Things to do
Known as a thriving urban hub, Canary Wharf is a business district located on the Isle of Dogs. Canary Wharf is primarily known in the business world, and is a less conventional area of London to go for a day out. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun! Not only does it lend itself to the infamous London skyline, but there are plenty of great pubs, museums and, of course, beauty!
Visit the Museum of London Docklands
Based in West India Quay, the Museum of London Docklands is home to permanent collections that explore London’s history. From educational exhibitions on slavery and the Triangle Trade to exploring the narrow streets of London’s Sailortown, there is plenty to learn about and more. If you’re interested in the world-famous River Thames, then this is the museum for you.
Both museums are free of charge and easily accessible via public transport. We recommend visiting the Museum of London Docklands; it’s a great place to take your children for a day of learning.
Take a tour around the Meantime Brewery
London has brewed beer for hundreds of years and we are not slowing down anytime soon. If you find yourself in the Canary Wharf area, bond with like-minded people over tours and tutored tastings.
If that isn’t exciting enough, you can also head on over down to the brewery for a ‘pie and pint night’. Much like a gift shop to a child, the brewery shop is waiting at the end of the tour for you to pick up some cheeky treats.
Stroll along the Crossrail Place Roof Gardens
If the central district area is too urban for your taste, head on up to the Crossrail Place Roof Garden and immerse yourself straight back into nature. The rooftop gardens sit directly on the Meridian line, and feature plants from all over the world.
Better yet, the Crossrail Place Roof Gardens is not only home to the large collection of plants, but also to a gorgeous amphitheatre. This is a great opportunity to go see some great shows, and take in the mesmerising scenery.
